Introduction to Vietnamese Foods

I was born and grew up in Viet Nam, a beautiful country with many landscapes and various types of foods. Today I would like to introduce some of the traditional Vietnamese foods that are famous for not only how they look but also for how they taste.

1. Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup (Pho)

Pho can be seen to represent Vietnamese traditional foods. It is a combination of beef broth, rare steak, meatball and many kinds of vegetable such are onion, scallion, cilantro, been sprout and basil.  The balanced tastes of sweet, salty, spicy, and citrus are highly contagious; Pho usually becomes an instant favorite for anyone visiting Vietnam.

2. Vietnamese Hoagie (Banh Mi)

Vietnamese Hoagie also known as Banh Mi is another great traditional dish. Of all the dishes to result from the French influence on the Vietnamese culture, the Banh Mi is one of the tastiest. The baguette, mayo, and pork may be borrowed from French cuisine, but the addition of jalapeƱos and cilantro makes this decidedly Vietnamese fare.

 3. Vietnamese Street Foods

Street foods in Viet Nam is hardly to live without. When you walk on the street, there will be a lot of colorful foods to try. Spring rolls, summer rolls, chicken legs, rice paper and sweet gruel are common foods to sell on street.  Usually, street foods are very quick and easy to make, they are not too expensive as well.

4. Vietnamese traditional meal

Vietnamese meal comes in a big tray with many different dishes. They are usually soup, vegetable, meat or seafood and sauces. In terms of food serving, family meals are normally served with traditional Vietnamese foods are served on a mat that can be spread on a plank bed or on the floor itself. The dishes are laid on a tray of wood or bronze. Each member has a small bowl of rice and the round tray upon which the foods are placed is put in the middle of the table or floor. Family members can choose random food they like in the tray to eat with their rice.
